KRONOSPAN RIVNE

The construction of the Kronospan woodworking plant in Horodok near Rivne city is underway. It is the sixth industrial facility that the international corporation Kronospan has entrusted to design the abmk team.

Kronospan is a multinational corporation specializing in woodworking with more than 40 production units in 27 countries. Continuous modernization, an increase in production capacities, and ecological safety improvement are the company’s main priorities.

The new Kronospan plant is being built on the territory of the former Rivne Foundry and the Rivne Tractor Unit Plant, which have not been operating for many years. In place of a completely dismantled old production is the construction of a modern enterprise with a total area of about 255 thousand m2. The total cost of the project is about 400 million euros, it will create from 2,000 to 4,000 new jobs.

The purpose of the planned activity is production and technological lines construction. The production line of oriented strand board (OSB) is a structural wood panel manufactured under local standards and regulations and the technological line for sawing and wood packing.

All wood used by Kronospan in its production is of exclusively legal origin. Much of the wood and manufactured products are FSC-certified (precise chain of wood processing ) and are secondary wood waste and wood residues from sawmills and other manufacturers. The company emphasizes that its responsibility to the planet is to increase efficiency by reducing waste and the number of raw materials needed for production.

In addition, Kronospan is one of the plants with modern equipment and the latest filters, which makes production more environmentally friendly than others. The plant in Horodok will be equipped with a UTWS system that meets the emission standards defined by Best Available Techniques. The system innovation is determined by the minimization of emissions of dust and volatile organic compounds into the atmosphere. The efficiency of air purification will reach 95%. This gas-dust cleaning scheme is the most efficient available today.

It is expected that the new production of high value-added products will help replace the import of oriented strand board (OSB) and increase exports from Ukraine to the EU common market and other countries. Only one line of this plant (and as a result, there will be two – OSB, chipboard lines) in the Rivne region will be almost the largest investment project in Ukraine in recent times.

It is our sixth project together with Kronospan. Since 2014, in collaboration with foreign engineers, we have successfully implemented many projects, sharing their experience in using the best available technologies. We are confident that together we can reach even greater heights.
